Bombshell Review

Bombshell is going to be a controversial movie and people are going to go see it with preconceptions. Whether your conservative or liberal this movie is so much more than the story of corruption at Fox News over the years.

We all saw the news back in 2016 – 2017 when Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly were ousted for sexual harassment (as well as a few others). I know we have all seen harassment in one form or another in our own workplaces so the story is something we can all relate to on some level. I have been an avid Fox News viewer since about 2004 I knew each and every personality at Fox that was cast in this film and I have to say the casting director could not have done a better job. The actors in this film were really incredible.

I initially questioned Charlize Theron as “Megyn Kelly” but after watching the movie and seeing her performance there is no one in the world that could have played a better Megyn than Charlize. She must have spent hundreds of hours watching and studying previous airings of Megyn’s show because she not only had every mannerism down to a “T” but the accent was remarkable. I swear if I wasn’t looking closely I would have easily mistaken her performance for Megyn herself. Nicole Kidman played Gretchen Carlson and killed it the same as Margot Robbie as Kayla Pospisil. As someone who has an affinity for both Megyn & Gretchen, I was worried about the way either of them was going to be portrayed in this film but after seeing it I can’t say enough positive things about their performances and the film overall. John Lithgow played Roger Ailes and like all the other leading cast did a phenomenal job.

There has been moderate advertisement for this film on TV from what I have seen but what I think will really drive viewers into this movie is “word of mouth.” I believe there are several award-winning performances in this movie and I know it’s not really the type of movie you would typically expect awards to be won but I’m telling these actors killed it! The movie was well structured and the storyline was well thought out which made for fantastic entertainment.

This film is competing with Star Wars – RoSW, Cats, Frozen 2 & Jumanji TNL which will certainly be challenging at the box office but if you have the time it’s definitely something you will not regret seeing.
