I hadn’t heard too much publicity on Chef; I actually went to check it out because my wife suggested it would be a “fun” flick.
The cast was epic! Jon Favreau, John Leguizamo, Robert Downey Jr., and Sofia Vergara among many others!
It’s not often and actually, upon recapping, I have NEVER seen John Favrau in a lead role! He is a dynamic writer and director and this film is not exempt. The film begins with the lovable and passionate chef Carl Casper (Favreau) preparing for a much anticipated restaurant review from a well-known food critic played by Oliver Platt. Thus, like your job and mine, the chef cannot go with his instincts to make this review memorable and is forced to abide with the current (outdated) menu, and that’s when the dilemma begins.
There are some hilarious scenes in this movie between the comedians which remind me of some realistic events. The movie portrays Favreau’s character as a father trying to do what he can to “be there” for his child, or at least he thinks he is, but most importantly, it portrays the lead character on an adventure that we all wish we had the courage to undergo, following our passion.
Initially, I thought for sure that this movie wouldn’t be something that was “for me”, but after seeing it, I recommend it for anyone needing a good laugh and a push toward achieving their aspirations.
