Insidious: The Last Key Review

Let’s start with the fact that I have been waiting THREE YEARS for Insidious: The Last Key. I have been obsessed with this franchise since I rented it on Redbox 7 years ago! I have high expectations from scary movies because they are my favorite genre, aside from psychological thrillers.

I felt the comedic relief was a little off; the story line wasn’t quite amazing. I say the story line because the first two were tied together SO WELL that it felt as though the events were actually, intentional. The Last Key was a bit rushed, predictable and it didn’t do what I needed it to, and that is elevate my heart rate. Starring Lin Shaye (Elise Rainier), Angus Sampson, Leigh Whannell, Spencer Locke, Caitlin Gerard, and Bruce Davison, with appearance from Daniel Kaluuya (best known for playing Chris in the 2017 GET OUT).

The movie did have some “jump” moments were I flinched but the sounds were what scared me more than the actual visual effects.

This movie isn’t the scariest movie of the year; though the year is just beginning. However, it is a good start to the year for sure.
