Who remembers Clue? You know, the classic detective game where players were supposed to determine who murdered its victim. Just like the game, with director Rian Johnson’s latest film, you’ll get to watch the action unfold in a big house where the murder occurred. The film has a very impressive ensemble cast each having their own motive for killing the victim, Harlan Thrombey; a crime novelist played by Christopher Plummer.
The 130-minute black comedy seemed to only suffer from having too little of runtime to embrace each of its talented players. With talents like Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Chris Evans, Daniel Craig, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Ana de Armas, and the list goes on each cast member delivering remarkable performances it’s no wonder why it leaves you wanting to see more. Standouts have to go Daniel Craig’s performance as Benoit Blanc and Chris Evans for Ransom Drysdale. Craig gave the film a Sherlock Holmes feel, while Chris commanded attention in every scene offering charisma, subtle humor, and spectacular facial performance.
Rian Johnson absolutely succeeds at bringing Agatha Christie-Esque whodunnit murder mystery into 2019. The Knives Out film has officially become the most fun I’ve had in a cinema this year.
