Night Swim Review

38

A baseball player suffering from a debilitating disease along with his family purchased a home with a
swimming pool. Unaware that this pool has a dark and mysterious history.

Let’s start with the positives. The realtor and the pool guy were the highlights of this film. They
understood the assignment. There were a few interesting shots involving under water.

Unfortunately, however, the movie would probably have done better as an “Are You Afraid of the
Dark?” or “Goosebumps” episode. The creature design was laughably bad. There was absolutely no
horror in this movie regardless of what the music told you. The theatre that I was in broke out in
laughter during what were intended to be suspenseful scenes.

As the 90-minute runtime was paced to feel like 2 hours. The premise started out interesting but lost its
way and didn’t know where else to go. The film deals with sacrifice and love from a family aspect,
however, fails to make the audience care enough for it to hit home.

January horror movies are historically mediocre at best, but this set a new low. You can and should
absolutely skip this film as it does nothing interesting enough to warrant 90-minutes of your attention.
