This is a prequel to the 1976 film The Omen that follows an American nun sent to work in Rome, who uncovers a plot to bring on the antichrist.
My initial response to this film was that I didn’t like it. It wasn’t scary. The jump scares felt cheap. However, the more I sit with it, the more I appreciate it as a film. It genuinely attempts to add to the lore and actually fallows the character you grow to care about.
The acting across the board is top notch. This includes the child actress, Nicole Sorace. The film doesn’t try to be more than it is. It adds to the classic before without trying to duplicate it. I would consider it more of a dark thriller than a horror movie.
I do believe that it is worth seeing it in theaters as well as owning especially if you are a fan of the original.
